Women’s Camping Weekends
FAQ's

Who are these weekends for?
Our camping weekends are open to women of all experience levels—from first-time campers to seasoned outdoor lovers. If you're craving connection, calm, and more confidence in your outdoor skills, you’re in the right place.

Where are the campsites located?
All locations are within 2–3 hours of Baltimore, Maryland.

June 20-22 • Private campground in Taneytown, MD

July 11-13 • Private campground in Rohrersville, MD

Aug 8-10 • Ohiopyle State Park, PA

What is the rigor of hiking at camping weekends?

It all depends on the location! Here's an idea of what to expect:

  • June - This weekend will be our most relaxed with 3 miles of relatively flat hiking trails in forest, fields and creek.

  • July - More elevation this weekend with a moderate 4 mile hike as we camp and hike the Appalachian Trail

  • August - Our longest hike of 5 or so miles (roundtrip) along the Youghiogheny River to a spectacular waterfall for a picnic lunch.

How remote are we camping?

All of our locations are considered “front country” campsites, meaning they’re easily accessible by vehicles and within two hours of hospitals and other modern conveniences.

What’s included in the weekend?
Each weekend includes:

  • Tent camping (no car camping)

  • Mindful nature walks

  • Wild-crafting and foraging

  • Fire crafting and outdoor skills

  • Morning yoga sessions

  • Journaling time

  • Hammock lounging

  • Community connection

Do your weekends include any rituals or nature-based practices?
Yes! Each weekend includes  nature-informed rituals and grounding practices that draw on ancestral traditions and seasonal rhythms. For example:

  • June celebrates the Summer Solstice, a time for balance, harmony and light

  • July weaves in Appalachian folklore and herbal wisdom

  • August honors the Full Sturgeon Moon, illuminating abundance, resilience, reflection and release

What are the food arrangements?
We will be cooking and eating campfire vegetarian, gluten-free meals that include an oatmeal breakfast bar, coffee, taco bar, stone soup, fresh fruit, energy bars, and more. Campers are welcome to bring their own snacks and plenty of drinking water. All campsites have potable water.

Are there bathrooms and showers?
Yes—each site has toilets. Two of our three campsites have showers; our June weekend does not have showers however there is a freshwater creek for rinsing.

What should I bring?
We’ll send a full packing list once you register, but essentials include:

  • Your own tent and sleeping gear

  • Reusable water bottle

  • Comfortable walking/hiking shoes

  • Personal snacks

  • Layers for changing weather

Can I sign up as a single?

Yes! Most of our campers come solo and leave with new friends. This is a welcoming space for all with a mission to grow a community of people with a shared heart for the outdoors.

Do I have to share a tent with someone?

Only if you want to! Everyone can bring their own tent for sleeping. If you don't have a tent, we can put it out to the group to see if anyone is open to sharing, or we can help you facilitate renting or borrowing a tent and sleeping gear.

What if it rains?

Being prepared for all kinds of weather is part of the camping experience! If there’s light rain or isolated showers in the forecast, our weekend will go on as planned. However, if severe weather or dangerous storms are expected, we will cancel for safety. In that case, campers can choose to reschedule for another weekend or receive a refund (minus a 4% processing fee).

It’s been a while since I’ve camped. What if my gear isn’t in great condition?

Many of our campers are returning after a break or using older gear. To help you feel confident and prepared, we host a virtual meetup before each weekend to walk through camping basics, show you how to inspect your gear, and share tips for patching up tents. You’ll also receive a detailed packing list, and we’re happy to answer questions anytime. If you need gear and don't want to buy, we recommend this local resource for renting tents and other essentials. Kara and Carleen also have a limited amount of rental tents available on a first-come basis.

Is there cell service or Wi-Fi?
Our sites have cell service, however no wifi. We advocate a digital-free experience to help you return to your true nature.

Can I bring alcohol?

Our camping weekends are alcohol and substance free.

Can I bring my pet?

To maintain a peaceful and allergy-conscious environment, we do not allow pets.

Why do you offer tiered pricing?

We believe that access to nature, connection, and community should be available to all women—regardless of financial circumstance. That’s why we’ve created a sliding scale with three pricing tiers. You choose the rate that feels most aligned with your current resources.

  • Community Rate: Covers the essentials—campsite, food, and group supplies. Choose this option if cost is a barrier and you need a lower price to attend.

  • Sustainer Rate: Reflects the true cost of the experience, including compensation for our time in planning, guiding, and preparing. If you're able to, this rate helps sustain our work.

  • Pay-It-Forward Rate: Supports greater access by helping us offer the Community Rate to others. This tier allows you to contribute to the ripple effect of generosity and shared connection.
